PRAYER

United Pentecostals in Platte City is a place where you are always welcome. We are a small Home Missions work with a Big Vision! Our focus is on Outreach for our city and discipleship with the goal of a closer relationship with the Word. Each service is filled with Worship, the Word Of God brought forth in sermons, great Bible teaching, fellowship and love. His Spirit moves in countless ways and measures during each and every service. Come experience a Pentecostal Apostolic move of God with us, soon! During each service there are always non pressure opportunities for prayer: Prayer for healing - James 5:14-15 Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith will save the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working. Prayers for deliverance from addictions - Mark 16:18 “And these signs will accompany those who believe: in my name they will cast out demons...they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will recover.” Prayers for personal needs, and prayers for a deeper personal commitment to Jesus. Mark 11:23-26 “Truly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will come to pass, it will be done for him. Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. And whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against anyone, so that your Father also who is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.” URGENT PRAYER REQUESTPlease pray for William (Billy) Hockman. He is incarcerated and in need of surgery. There has been a mix up where he was moved before surgery scheduled and now the place where he is sent shows no record of need for surgery...only convalescence. His surgery was scheduled for May 11. They moved him May 10. He is off blood thinners and in pain. His surgeon was concerned about clot. ECHOgram for Tuesday, April 24, 2012 Prayer for the "Comeback of the Prodigals" There are many of God's prodigals that have been raised in this Great Truth. God is married to the backslider. He declares it in Jeremiah 3:14, "Turn, O backsliding children, saith the Lord; for I am married unto you: and I will take you one of a city, and two of a family, and I will bring you to Zion." God's people are reaching for God's prodigals through the power of intercessory prayer. God values His Prodigals. He is in the salvage business! He wants to rescue, restore, and save those that have been shipwrecked! God sees the value and the worth of a soul! •Please pray that God will wake up the spiritually sleeping prodigals and place a deep hunger within their hearts to return to their first love which is Jesus. •Pray that the prodigals come to Jesus with "true repentance." •Pray that the prodigals will come to themselves and realize that "today is the day of salvation." •Pray that God will pick up the broken vessels, place them on the potter's wheel and make them into what He wants them to be. •Pray that the prodigals will feel the mercy and grace of the Almighty God. •Pray that God gives each one a deep desire and determination to live for Him regardless of circumstances. •Pray that the prodigals will have the ability to forgive themselves for walking away from God. •Pray that God's people will accept His prodigals back with open arms, love, prayer, and encouragement. •Pray that God's prodigals will be restored to Him and be refilled with the precious gift of the Holy Ghost. Among great opportunities leaders also have tremendous responsibilities and face many challenges as they endeavor to fulfill the call, purpose, and Biblical mandate of God, and it is vital that we consistently intercede for those who lead us. When Moses lowered his hands in the battle due to fatigue, Aaron and Hur interceded by holding up his hands, and the enemy was defeated (Exodus 17:8-13). This Biblical account is a powerful allegory of the role that intercessors play in the success of a ministry. Likewise, intercessors can stand in the gap and help carry the burden by holding up the hands of those who lead the fight in the spiritual battles of the church, and we can move forward to victory!

"Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free course, and be glorified, even as it is with you: And that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men: for all men have not faith" (II Thessalonians) 3:1-2. One of a minister's primary responsibilities is to deliver the messages that God has given, and prayer provides a covering from the attack of the enemy and other hindrances that would attempt to prohibit the Word from coming forth. The Apostle Paul requested prayer so that the message he was carrying would have free course (go forth unhindered) in God's full power and anointing. Paul also recognized that the enemy would try to impede progress directly through the work of wickedness and evil men, as he often faced opposition. Likewise, it is so for all ministers who have a message(s) that God has given to relay. Earlier, Paul even expressed "Brethren, pray for us" in I Thessalonians 5:25. If the apostle Paul needed prayer, then surely all ministers today need it too! An example of Satan's attempt to hinder God's chosen ones also is found in Daniel 10:12-13. Such are primary reasons why all of our ministers on every level need consistent effectual intercessory prayer.

When we continually pray for ministers and leaders (those we are under authority to) there is a greater opening of the glory and power of God to become resident in their lives and ministries! The anointing flows from the top all the way down (Psalm 133:2), from leadership to laity, from the pulpit to the pew. So when saints and others pray for leaders and ministers, they too become recipients of the blessings of God, and the entire church body is edified!

Ministers often work under stress, time pressures, deadlines, phone calls, emergencies, and always the unexpected. That is why it is vital that their ministry is supported faithfully and fervently by intercessory prayer. Sometimes ministers, especially pastors, suffer from the unrealistic expectations of some congregants and others, and society as a whole, and placed on a spiritual pedestal, though not by choice. Ministers have a greater level of accountability due to their position of trust and influence and are greater targeted by evil spiritual forces due to their position of authority and power within the Church. Intercession causes a positive change in ministry. For a majority of ministers in a test group who were assigned intercessors to pray for them for over a one-year period, a recent study showed enhanced effectiveness in the use of their spiritual gifts; a greater response to their ministry; increased discernment and wisdom from God; progressed wholeness in Christ; improved attitudes; greater display of the fruit of the Spirit; better personal prayer lives; and heightened leadership skills, etc. Prayer makes a difference! We must cover the entire ministry in prayer! All these reasons and more are why we should pray for the ministry! Now knowing this, like never before will you pray for the ministry?

A famous Christian leader, Charles Spurgeon, was once asked the secret of his success. He humbly replied, "My people pray for me." Prayer for leadership is essential! Among great opportunities leaders also have tremendous responsibilities and face many challenges as they endeavor to fulfill the call, purpose, and Biblical mandate of God, and it is vital that we consistently intercede for those who lead us (I Timothy 2:1-3). Prayer makes a difference!
